May/June 2017 Updates for Joshua Hanna
The old adage "April showers brings May flowers" has not held true this spring as Texas has been inundated with wet weather during both May and June. Of the five scheduled events for Josh, three were cancelled due to rain. Therefore only a May 6th TSS race in Abilene and a June 17th non-wing show in Willis were completed over a two month span. While in Abilene, Josh was able to make some moves in the A-Main when he started 14th and moved up to 7th with a few laps to go. However, a late caution caused him to lose rhythm and he ultimately finished 9th. His father, Bud Hanna, would also move up going from 17th to 13th but had to settle for runner-up in the father-son battle. Then, in the following month, Josh competed in his first career non-wing race at Gator Motorplex in Willis, TX. Known as the Kent Lewis Sr. Classic, the Southern United Sprints hosts a wingless race annually in honor of their very own Kent Lewis Sr. Josh ran into trouble early when we was caught up in a wreck in the heat race that would blow two tires and bend his front axel. Fortunately his pit crew was able to make critical repairs so that Hanna was able to start in the feature. Josh was able to hold his own in the A-Main where he started and finished 13th.
Weather permitting, Josh hopes to make up for lost time in July and race four consecutive weekends in Willis, Abilene, Boyd, and then back in Willis. Check back in for updates!
